Frequently Asked Questions

*I am not currently accepting therapy clients.*

Here is a guide to finding a therapist

What are your therapy fees?

My regular fees are as follows:

50-minute individual or couples session - $175

75-minute extended session - $250

All first sessions are 60 minutes with a one time fee of $200

Cancellations within less than 24 hours of your appointment and no-shows will be charged the full fee of the session booked.

I accept payment via credit, debit, or HSA.

*Please see the question below regarding insurance for further information.*

Do you take insurance?

I do not accept insurance. Many PPO plans will reimburse some percentage of your treatment cost. If you have a deductible, you may be able to submit the receipts from our sessions toward it. If you wish to attempt to be reimbursed by your insurance company, I am happy to provide you with the receipts and coding needed to do so. Reimbursement all depends upon your insurance plan. I'm happy to discuss how to address these possibilities with your insurance company. I recommend using the services Better or Reimbursify to help you with reimbursement.

You should be aware that insurance companies require me to provide them with a medical diagnosis that remains in your insurance record permanently. In addition, your insurance company may request that your records be released to them for review, and they may deny reimbursement for services that you wish to receive.

If you have financial need for lower cost therapy…

I highly recommend these organizations:

In Maryland:

Pro-Bono Counseling Project connects clients with therapists for free or discounted session fees up to $30. I accept one pro-bono client at a time.

Chesapeake Mental Health Collective has an affordable counseling program for as low as $30 a session for uninsured, underinsured, and those with high unmet deductibles.

TurnAround provides no cost counseling for survivors of domestic violence, childhood sexual abuse, and sexual assault.

The Growth Center is a nonprofit therapy collective that accepts many insurances and offers sliding scale services.

Anywhere:

Open Path Psychotherapy Collective connects clients with therapists for discounted fees between $40 and $70 per session.

Give An Hour connects people with counselors who provide low-cost or no-cost therapy for military & veterans, survivors of interpersonal violence, rare disease caregivers, and more.

What is your availability?

I am not currently accepting therapy clients.

Where are you located?

All therapy is currently done online or via phone. Because I am only licensed in Maryland, you must be located in the state of Maryland to obtain therapy, whether it is in person or not.

What can I expect at our first session?

Before we meet, you'll fill out forms in my online system, which include providing your contact information, giving informed consent for treatment, policies and procedures, and going over payment options. When we first meet, I’ll briefly go over the forms with you. We’ll then spend the rest of the session getting to know one another and beginning to set goals for our time together. You’re welcome to ask me any questions at this time and throughout the therapeutic process.

Are you LGBTQIA+ friendly?

Totally! I have years of experience working with queer couples and identify as bisexual myself.

I’m looking for someone to speak at my mental health/wellness event. Do you do that?

I am available for paid speaking opportunities. Email me to discuss possibilities.
